Kiran Jandu (b. 1988) lives and works between Northampton, Massachusetts and Paris, France. Through sculpture, film, and perfomrance, Kiran explores the entanglement between objects, humans, and environments. In her studio practice, Kiran engages in dialogue with a series of raw materials and mundane things. At one level of analysis, these rudimentary forms in liminal space contort object fetishism in order to reflect on ontological concerns. At another level, reading 'things' across disciplinary perspectives grants access to narratives of both marginalization and liberatory futures. Embedded in the materials are the personal and collective paradoxes that inform Kiran's public art practice. Both in the studio and in the field, Kiran sits at the converging at the points between cultures, spaces, and identities.
